Beautifully hand-painted. The serpentine form is accentuated by exuberant gilt scrollwork and ormolu mounts, framing an oval cartouche depicting an 18th-century pastoral scene. The sides and drawer fronts are adorned with soft floral sprays and delicate gilt flourishes, while the gently bowed silhouette sits on cabriole legs finished with gilt-bronze mounts. The commode retains its original Breccia marble top, richly figured with plum and white veining, adding a note of opulence and contrast to the painted base.
